To review your application, our admissions team requires all students to submit three academic documents. Unfortunately, we often see that students have only submitted one or two of the necessary documents. By making sure you upload all three of the documents discussed below, you can help our team process your application more quickly!

  1. SEMESTER-BY-SEMESTER MARKS: For countries that make note of student backlogs, the first academic document our team reviews will be your detailed semester marksheets. Your semester-by-semester transcript will list each individual semester on a separate page and include detailed information such as the final grade received, pass/fail classification, and full name of all courses attempted. You can also help our team process your application more quickly by ensuring that the semester reports are copied and uploaded in chronological order (in order by date).
  2. CONSOLIDATED MARKS MEMO (CMM): Next, our team will review your final transcript. This document will likely be one single page which collectively lists every course attempted as well as the total percentage of marks received (or the CGPA). In rare cases, students have no consolidated grade report and, instead, the grand total is listed at the bottom of the page detailing the semester marks from their final semester.
  3. DEGREE CERTIFICATE: Finally, our team will review your provisional or official degree certificate. This document is awarded to each student after completing all degree requirements and successfully graduating. For students who are currently completing their degree and have not yet received their degree certificate, please review more information on conditional acceptances.

Remember, all three academic documents are required to receive an admissions decision. Taking the time to scan and include all documents will help shorten the time you wait for a response from our team!

When applying to Indiana Tech, students are required to submit several supporting documents. This list of documents, for both the undergraduate application requirements and the graduate application requirements, includes a current financial document and a sponsor’s affidavit. However, the sponsor’s affidavit is the document that is most often submitted incorrectly. Continue reading to find out how you can properly complete the sponsor’s affidavit form so that our admissions counselors can review your application materials!

First, be sure to submit a notarized copy of Indiana Tech’s Sponsor’s Affidavit form. No other government affidavit can be accepted in place of this university form. Affidavits also cannot be accepted if they are submitted without an official notary stamp and seal.

Second, be sure that the correct USD amount is listed. Our counselors often find that no amount has been included on the document. Additionally, the USD amount listed cannot be greater than the amount in the sponsor’s bank account or the amount listed on a bank loan letter.  However, the minimum amount that must be listed is as follows: $22,500 for graduate students, $47,550 for undergraduate students, and $25,000 for Leap Advantage students. Also note that you are able to submit multiple sponsor affidavits as long as a current financial statement is provided for each affidavit and the total sponsorship amount adds to the required minimum.

Third, be sure that the name on the Sponsor’s Affidavit is the name listed on the provided current financial statement. If you are using your own bank statement to show financial support, simply list your name as the sponsor and “self” as the relationship to student. Please note that self-sponsored affidavits still require an official notary stamp and signature.

Fourth, be sure that the date the sponsor signs the affidavit is the same as the date the notary signs the affidavit. Since the notary is serving as a witness to the sponsor’s signature, these dates cannot be different.

While notary signatures vary in each country, the photos below show one example from India and one example from Pakistan. Also, remember that providing a falsified document is a federal crime in the United States and cannot be tolerated. Unfortunately, we do issue several denial decisions each week to students who have presented documents that have clearly been forged or altered in some way.

Receiving a conditional acceptance decision can be confusing, but our team is here to help! Most often, conditional acceptances are issued to students who apply for a master’s degree program at Indiana Tech but are still working to complete the final semester of their undergraduate degree. If you have received a conditional acceptance notification, read the Frequently Asked Questions below to learn more about what this means.

Am I accepted to Indiana Tech?

  • Technically, no. Our current academic policies restrict us from offering an official admissions decision to any student who is pursuing a master’s degree but has not yet fully completed their bachelor’s degree. Instead, a conditional acceptance is our way of saying that you will be eligible for an official acceptance decision after submitting the remaining required documents.

Should I be worried about being denied after receiving a conditional acceptance notification?

  • Not at all! Although it is not common, a student may be denied after receiving a conditional acceptance if our team fails to receive a provisional certificate, if the final transcripts reflect a decline in academic achievement, or if the total number of classes failed (typically called backlogs in India) exceeds the allowed amount.

Can I receive an I-20 and apply for a visa interview with a conditional acceptance?

  • Unfortunately, you cannot receive an I-20 or apply for a visa interview with a conditional acceptance. Indiana Tech and USCIS policies restrict our team from issuing an I-20 until all admissions requirements have been met. Although this will delay your ability to schedule a visa interview, Indiana Tech offers new enrollment start dates every six weeks for MBA programs and every eight weeks for MSIS programs! This means that students who graduate with their undergraduate degree in June may be unable to enroll in our August session but will likely be able to enroll in our October session.

What are my next steps?

  • If you are currently finishing your bachelor’s degree, you are still able to upload your passport, current financial statement, sponsor’s affidavit, English proficiency scores, all detailed semester marks that have been received, and a letter verifying your status as a current student. Then, be sure to continue working hard through graduation! After receiving your consolidated grade report, complete semester-by-semester marksheets, and provisional certificate, you may upload all three documents to your student portal and our team will provide a final review of your application.
