Information on Visa Revocation and SEVIS record termination
April 9, 2025As you may have read in recent news coverage, international students across the United States have recently had their visas revoked and their SEVIS records terminated.
If you have been notified that you are currently out of your immigration status, which means, you cannot continue taking classes or continue to work if you are on OPT. Termination of a SEVIS record by DHS ends student’s lawful status in the U.S. If a student’s visa is revoked and/or their SEVIS record is terminated, they are required to leave the United States ASAP or consult with an immigration attorney specializing in immigration and deportation laws. If you do not plan to leave the U.S. immediately, you should immediately seek personal legal counsel to discuss options that may be available to you and contact the embassy of your home country.
