We suggest bringing enough to settle in. Most items can be purchased at decently low cost in the United States. You will just want enough for your first month so that you do not have to worry about rushing to the store to purchase everything.
Weather Information and Suggestions
- Indiana experiences all four seasons so it is best to bring clothing that can layer well. The weather breakdown is below:
- Fall: Generally moderate temperatures and can be warm to chilly. Known for bright colors and moderate temperatures.
- Months: September to November
- Temperature:
- Suggestions: lightweight clothing with sweatshirts or light jackets
- Winter: Generally cold and frequent snow. It is suggested that you bring or purchase warm clothing.
- Months: November to February
- Temperature: 15°F to 45°F (-9°C to 9°C)
- Suggestions: having a warm coat, scarf, hat, and gloves
- Spring: The temperatures are moderate, often chilly but warming up. This is when flowers start to bloom.
- Months: April to June
- Temperature: 55°F to 80°F (13°C to 26°C)
- Suggestions: having layers and an umbrella or rain jacket
- Summer: Warm and often humid, plan for some days of 50% or more humidity.
- Months: June to August
- Temperature: 80°F to 100°F (26°C to 38°C)
- Suggestions: lightweight clothing
