Transfer Requests
All transfer students are required to speak with a DSO at Indiana Tech. We cannot consider or accept a transfer until you speak with the International Office.
Transferring to Indiana Tech – Already in the United States
- Reach out to your Indiana Tech International Admissions Counselor in order to advise that you are a transfer student. All transfers must speak with a DSO before we can start this process.
- On your initial application, it should have asked if you are a transfer student. If you are not sure about your answer to this, please email the correct address below:
- Graduate Students (MBA, MSE, MSEIS) – intlgradadmissions@indianatech.edu
- Undergraduate Students – iadmissions@indianatech.edu
- On your initial application, it should have asked if you are a transfer student. If you are not sure about your answer to this, please email the correct address below:
- Once you complete your current semester, you will want to provide the acceptance letter along with the signed transfer form to your current International Advisor so that they can complete the form and return this to our office via email.
- Once we receive your transfer form, we will review and advise your current school if you are eligible to transfer to Indiana Tech.
- Note: We do not accept transfers of students who are out of F-1 status. You must have started classes and transfer within five months of your last class to be considered.
- We must approve the transfer before your SEVIS record can be accepted.
- At that point, your current school will transfer your SEVIS record to Indiana Tech and we can then process your transfer I-20.
- All transfers are due the Friday before orientation in order to give us enough time to process your request prior to your arrival to campus.

Leaving Indiana Tech
While we hate to see you go, we do realize that there might be a better fit out there for your college experience. If you are planning on transferring out of Indiana Tech, you will need to send us the following information:
- Acceptance Letter: You will need to provide a letter or email of acceptance from your new school, which should also state the term that you were admitted to the school.
- Transfer Form: There is a form that your new international office should provide on request which will need to be filled out by you and Indiana Tech before we can transfer anything.
- Date of Transfer: You will need to provide me the date that you wish to have your record sent over. This should be after your classes at Indiana Tech finish but before your orientation with the new school. If traveling internationally, you will want to wait to transfer until you return to avoid issues at the border.
- Note: Per Department of Homeland Security and USCIS regulations, you must transfer at the new school’s next start date or within five months of your last class, whichever is earlier.
You must alert a DSO at Indiana Tech either in person or via email in order to have your SEVIS record transferred.
This information should be sent via email to InternationalServices@IndianaTech.edu or dropped off at our office. It does take 3 – 5 business days to process this request.
